Connor's First Christmas

We had some fun moments this Christmas! Connor helped me decorate Christmas cookies! Matt and I were also on our toes trying to keep him from eating the presents, bows, Christmas tree, and other things in our house. He also looks adorable in his hat at the Sass Christmas!

Funny Why?

Connor laughed and laughed when Matt started throwing the block up in the air and catching it. He's so cute... Obviously, Connor is a future athlete!

Chasing Simon

Connor's new favorite hobby is chasing the cat. Simon manages to stay out of his grasp, barely! The other day, Connor had Simon cornered on the bed; Simon finally had to jump off to get away from him. Look out Simon, Connor will be behind you from now on!

Connor loves to squeal! When he's playing with his toys, we hear him laughing and squealing. He wiggles all over the place and will roll across the floor in just a few moments. He's scooting backward across the floor too; nothing is safe. Yesterday, he made it to a pile of folded washcloths and had them all unfolded in a matter of seconds. Each day we notice more of his personality showing and I can tell already that he's going to be a handful!

I had a reality check today. I went to his dresser to find an outfit and I had a hard time finding one that would fit. My little baby is almost completely into 9 month clothes! His legs have grown so fast that his 3-6 month outfits no longer stretch to fit him. He'll be 6 months old next week. I can't believe how fast it's going!

5 Months!

It's hard to believe that Connor is 5 months old already! Time is going so fast! Soon he'll be crawling and terrorizing the cat. Matt and I are having a great time with Connor. He's rolling over and standing with support. He creeps across his crib at night and wakes us up screaming when he ends up on his back. Every time there's a change, Connor wakes up every hour or two at night. I'm glad for volleyball to end on Monday and then I'll have more time at home with Connor. For the last eight weeks, things have been crazy! Connor is just now getting back to sleeping more than five hours at night. He doesn't seem to need much sleep. Sometimes he only naps for 30 minutes in an 8 hour period! The pictures above show Connor and Marcia in stripes, Simon J. finally making peace with Connor, and Connor on game day.

Walking Around

Connor Rolls Over!

Our boy is very talented!

3 Day Weekend!

It's been hectic in our house lately. I returned to work and have been busy coaching 8th grade volleyball. Matt's been busy with his job too. Free moments are spent canning tomatoes, taking care of our garden, and cleaning our house. We are both enjoying this 3-day weekend with Connor.
On Saturday, we watched the first Hawkeye football game of the season. Connor was dressed for the event and he brought the Hawks great luck even though he slept through most of the game. After the game, we spent some much needed time at home and played with the boy.
Today, we started off our day with a visit from our good friend Hannah. We spent most of the day catching up and then we went for a nice walk in the park. Later in the day, Grandma and Grandpa Kreutner came up to visit along with Great-grandma Rose. They babysat Connor so Matt and I could go on "date night".
Tomorrow, we're looking forward to a canoe trip on the Wapsi and visiting Grandma and Grandpa Ciha.

Connor Speaks!

Our boys smiles, laughs, and even coos.
I'm still waiting for him to roll over, though he's getting closer every day!

Connor goes to the fair!

Aah, the Iowa State Fair...What fun, what joy! It's the only vacation we took this summer! We spent two days in Des Moines. One at the fair and one shopping. It's amazing how much stuff you pack when you are traveling with a baby. Matt had to get a bell cart to carry all of our stuff up to our hotel room!
We survived the day and escaped after spending at least $60.00 on food. I can't believe they charge $4.00 for a lemonade.... Connor enjoyed viewing the butter cow.

Two Years!

Matt and I celebrated our second anniversary with a trip to Leo's. We had a nice time and the food was great! Connor cooperated and kept quiet for most of the meal.

I can't believe that the summer is winding down. My first day back teaching is only three weeks away and I'm a little nervous about going back. Connor is so much fun and I'm really enjoying spending this time at home with him. He's growing really fast and is almost 12 lbs. already! He should be crawling by Christmas! Matt and I joke that we will have to fence off our tree!

Here's a couple pictures from the last few days...

Firsts!

Connor's really on a roll! He can now find his thumb on his own, turn down his lower lip when he's upset, and smile! Matt and I spend a lot of time trying to coax a smile from the boy. At 11 pounds, Connor's doubled his body weight in the last two months! We can't believe how big he's gotten.
We had a great time at our 4th of July party. Friends and family from near and far came to Independence to see the legendary parade and have a cookout.
Today, we went to the park for a picnic! While there, Matt and I played a little basketball and volleyball while Connor cheered us on. Thank goodness he was the only witness! It's been awhile since we've played either sport.

More pictures!

On Sunday, we had Connor's first playdate with Colin! Traveling with a 6-week old is a challenge! We had a great time and traded stories. Matt and Andy played croquet while Jen and I relaxed on the deck with the boys.

Staying home with the boy!

I've been amusing myself by taking lots of pictures of Connor and then sending them to Matt at work.... it helps him get through the day! Thought we better share the pictures with everyone else!
I'm constantly amazed by how fast time goes during the day. Taking care of an infant requires so much time! By the time I feed him, burp him, and change him, it's time to start all over again. I still can't believe my own mom did this with five boys! After Matt spent the day with me last week, he said, "how do you get anything done?" LOL!

New Pictures

Below are some pictures of his first walk in the park on Memorial Day in the travel system we got the Saturday before he was born. That was a great day!

Connor's Room

The weekend before Connor was born we were busy painting his room. Little did we know the day we got it finished he would be born the next day.

Here is what the room looked like before.

Turn you computer screen sideways for the first one.

Started to paint but it was not the right color so after painting two walls we decided to go with a different color.

The end result, Connors finished room!

Connor Day 3

Here are some more pictures of little Connor. He is doing good, we are still at the hospital in Waterloo. We may go home today, but they may keep us here one more night just to be on the safe side. Keep the comments coming Marcia and I enjoy reading them.
